Why Chose Quartz Worktops ?

What are Quartz Worktops ?

Nettlebank supply Quartz Worktops to the Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire and South Cheshire area because they offer an attractive alternative to natural materials and offer some properties which granite and marble cannot.

Quartz Worktops are made from a mixture of 93 percent pulverized quartz and "enhancement material." This includes a resin binder that hardens with the quartz into a flawless worktop surface and by mixing colour pigments a stable, uniform colour and strong workable surface. The result of the combination of the resin and quartz is a nonporous finished product unlike any other worktop surface.

Why Choose Quartz?

Quartz is extremely durable with a scratch sand scorch resistant surface that ranks No. 7 on the Mohs hardness scale, only sapphires, topaz and diamonds are harder. this makes your quartz worktops very difficult to scratch or chip.

One thing that drives customers to quartz worktops is the variety of colours that Silestone and Zodiaq manufacture. If a traditional grey is your your taste, then easy enough. But if you want toffee apple red or 1960's orange, then a smooth quartz worktop is just the ticket. Silestone also has a "leather" textured surface that mimics animal hide.

Maintenance of your Quartz Worktops

Quartz kitchen worktops are almost stain-proof. It's nonporous nature makes it almost impervious and because of this it does not need to be sealed or treated unlike many other kitchen worktop surfaces This makes quartz worktops virtually maintenance free, your coffee, Cabernet and olive oil will sit on top of the surface instead of soaking in, ready for the sponge.

Being nonporous also makes it more difficult for bacteria, mold and mildew to grow, which makes it an ideal choice for the kitchen and bath. The clean factor doesn't stop there. Silestone also has something called Microban built into the surface of the worktop. Microban is a trademark antimicrobial compound that's mixed into the quartz and resin, actually making it part of the structure. Microban helps to fight the build up of tiny pathogenic microorganisms, like bacteria.

This does not protect against food-borne illness so the surface still needs to be cleaned but it does offer extra protection and makes it easier for the surface to stay clean.
